Blue Is The Warmest Color

Tara shot photos of me the other day in my home nestled in the hills. She’s putting together a series where she shoots girls that are wearing clothing that matches their hair color.
She started with me creating a very blue story.

Ok… so I know that I’m wearing just a basic white tee (which is the best thing ever) and a pair of denim high-waisted skinnies by Black Orchid, but I swear there is nothing wrong with being a basic b*tch when it’s hotter than the Devil’s home here in LA…
I cropped my Monrow ’tissue tee’ which is such a fitting name for something I would own in my repertoire, and rocked it with laced and striped espadrilles by Sulodos.
My accessories game consisted of a pair of black Barton Perraira sunnies chained with rose gold perfection by Kimba. Tying into my Rose Gold love affair I have my new Jacquie Aiche ‘Pave Starburst Ear Jacket’ and my everyday Gabriela Artigas ‘Tusk in Rose Gold’.

Lady BOY Project

Lady BOY Project

The Lady BOY Project

I often find myself waking up and picking out the most boyish basics I own in my closet, and thinking to myself, “Wow, Sara you really do dress like a boy.” I’m not mad at that though…

Tara Nichols styled me for this project she has created where she dresses girl friends that she knows in menswear as well as pieces from women’s that have a more boy-ish flare to them.
We shot these looks in Topanga Canyon and the aesthetic for the shoot was of a Western nature. Tara mixed multiple prints, suspenders and bowties, socks were also a key to dressing like a boy. I also had to incorporate my favorite hat designer, Gladys Tamez into every look. I think these looks were channeling my favorite Fashion Influencers/Musicians ; John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Mick Jagger.

‘Eye see you’ from the front and behind me in this Kenzo, ‘Eye Print Silk Crepe Blouse‘, at Rough Trade record store located in Williamsburg. Ever have those days where you just can’t take your sunglasses off inside or outside? I had one of those days the other day whilst browsing new artists records and my favorite oldies records.
I squatted on the floor in my fitted ‘Front Zip Leather Leggings’ by Alice & Olivia. I could roll around in records and tune out the world with music all day long…
Layered over this see through Eye ball shirt, I wore the ‘Max Moto in White’ by Veda, and an All Saints coat. To add a little more pep to my step I threw on my ‘Janis Mesh and Leather Pump’ by Saint Laurent.

I’m ice skating over here in Brooklyn… Not in ice skates though… Ice skating in my Surface To Air booties. I had another dose of One Teaspoon but, this time it was in overalls. I cuffed these leather and denim combo up a few times, to the ankle where my booties start. Took baby steps in the backyard of the apartment I’m staying in to avoid eating ice cubes off the floor.

I thought it’s supposed to be approaching Spring? Is that not in the cards New York?
I paired a pair of Karen Walker sunnies that I tucked off of Bib & Tuck, with a Charlotte Olympia pink and clear checkered clutch from Marissa Collections. These One Teaspoon overalls are supposed to get me in that Spring spirit..

New York: is my favorite playground to frequent, and when you have friends from La La Land that are also in town it becomes a really nice field trip.
Yesterday, I started the morning off with a lighter brunch at EGG with my friend Sara. We then proceeded to top those calories off with hot cocoa and macaroons at, The Bakeshop. Both of these places are located in the heart of Williamsburg and are worth checking out.
After bopping around in Saint Laurent heels that were a non-functional option, we cabbed our frozen butts over to the Sally Lapointe show. If I hadn’t worn this Unreal Fur jacket layered with a Theory, velvet blazer underneath, I would have turned into Jack from Titanic…
