“So I’m back, to the velvet underground
Back to the floor, that I love
To a room with some lace and pAper flowers
Back to the gypsy that I was
To the gypsy… that I was
And it all comes down to you
Well, you know that it does
Well, lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
Ah, and it lights up the night
And you see your gypsy
You see your gypsy
To the gypsy that remains faces freedom with a little fear
I have no fear, I have only love
And if I was a child
And the child was enough
Enough for me to love
Enough to love
She is dancing away from me now
She was just a wish
She was just a wish
And a memory is all that is left for you now
You see your gypsy
You see your gypsy
Lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you
And it all comes down to you
Lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you
I still see your bright eyes, bright eyes
And it all comes down to you
I still see your bright eyes, bright eyes
And it all comes down to you
I still see your bright eyes, bright eyes
(She was just a wish)
(She was just a wish)
And it all comes down to you
Lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you”

-Stevie Nicks “Gypsy”

This is one of my absolute favorite songs by Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks has always been a major style influence for the bohemian side of my soul. Living in Laurel Canyon really brings out the boho aesthetic not only in my home, but also in my everyday style. Everybody has their “go to” uniform in their ensemble, mine typically consists of a pair of vintage levis, mom jeans. This “Suede Cropped Vest” designed by, Nasty Gal really spruces up that look.

Top: Mademoiselle Pussy Bow Blouse designed by Nasty Gal /Sunnies: Sun Buddies

This shoot was inspired by Patti Smith and her dark, yet feminine song, “Dancing Barefoot”.
Patti was a true style icon in my eyes. Some know her for her book “Just Kids” with Robert Mapplethorpe, others know her as the “Godmother of Punk”, artist, feminist and poet. I truly believe she paved the way in the seventies for androgyny today, with her trendsetting style. I think her effortless Tomboy look was/is so sexy and appealing.
Patti never cares what anyone thinks of her and I think that’s what truly makes her a trendsetter and ultimately a badass rebel. This Nasty Gal “Mademoiselle Pussy Bow Blouse” can be worn with a pair of black trouser pants like I have shown, or it can be paired with a skirt and vest this Fall, for a more femme look.

Tyler Shields- Historical Fiction

Tyler Shields- Historical Fiction

“Man On The Moon”

I styled this Panam story that was a part of Tyler Shields, “Historical Fiction” series, which is now showing at the Andrew Weiss Gallery. This project was so much fun for me, since I’m extremely inspired by fifties through seventies fashion. I searched local costume houses, as well as neighborly vintage stores, to complete everyone’s airplane looks.

Olympia Le-Tan Schnitzel With Noodles

When Designers don’t take what they’re doing so seriously and can have fun with their lookbooks and even their collections, those are the designers I admire.
Olympia Le-Tan
is such a talented designer! In 2009, she launched her eponymous accessories label, combining her two obsessions,”embroidery (a talent she inherited from her grand-mother), and literature (a passion she shares with her father, French illustrator Pierre Le-Tan) to create one of a kind handbags and minaudières. The bags are handmade with love in France in very limited editions.”
I know this is late news for those of you who already are familiarized with the designer and her brand, but for those of you who aren’t…Her Fall 2013 lookbook is called “In The Forest” Each photo has a different animal head per model, and each bag tells it’s own story. Her Father Pierre Le-Tan created the drawings and is very well known illustrator. Together they make a power team.

It’s so funny how two of the designers I’m swooning over both have Olympia in their names.. Charlotte Olympia & Olympia Le-Tan and ironically you could easily pair Le-Tan’s clothing and bags with Charlotte’s character shoes.

Here are some of my favorite looks from this very Hansel & Gretel-esque collection:

Metallic Trend Monday

Torn By Ronny Kobo-Fancy Hipster-Metallic

If you can be as girly as I am at times, you’re probably a sucker for this season’s Metallic ‘trend’, but you don’t have to be very girly because there are many great jackets or sneakers that have metallic accents as well!
You can go all the way with metallics on metallics or you can use a metallic piece as your accent. Be daring and brave, and rock it!

I personally don’t think metallics will really ever go out of style.

Here are some shopping cart worthy pieces:
